Welcome

Someday I may have the time to make this site interesting. At the moment, however, I am far too busy with Moda Operandi and other business/charitable/social endeavors.

Social / Networks

Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Et cetera:
Follow my public tweets if you’d like; friends can request to follow my private tweets also. Business colleagues can find me on Linked In or through my Google Profile. Friends can find me on Google Plus and Facebook, despite the fact that I have issues with Facebook’s privacy policies. “If you’re not paying for it, you’re not the customer; you’re the product being sold”, right?.

LUG:
I’m a member of the Association for Computing Machinery and the IEEE. I’m also a devoted Linux advocate, I’m likely to be found at the local LUG.

I’m heavily involved in the NYC tech scene. There are a few Meetups I attend here in New York City: ARNY – Augmented Reality New York, New York Tech Mixer, Fashion 2.0, and the NY Tech Meetup (just to name a few). IgniteNYC is also an excellent event and I can’t recommend it enough.

University:
I attended Carnegie Mellon University, specifically the School of Computer Science.

(Some) Interests

I read. Lots. Books of any kind on any subject matter. I love the feel of a physical book, but e-book readers are much more convenient on the NYC subway. Also with an ebook reader, one can legally download and read most out-of-copyright books for free. Thank you Project Gutenberg.

I’m interested in anything technical or scientific, in any field whatsoever. I can’t possibly add enough links to my favorite news sites (my RSS reader is frightening), but here are some of the magazines and websites I subscribe to or frequent: Scientific American · nature.com · Seed · Science/AAAS · Wired · Slashdot · Science Daily · New Scientist

I play Texas Hold’em Poker – in person, not online. I’m a fan of the Connecticut casinos, not Atlantic City.

I studied Bikram Yoga for a while, but now I’m into any Hatha Yoga. I’m also studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and keeping up with my Wushu. I run a lot. I’m prepping for the Tough Mudder this year. And I lift, swim, play golf, tennis, etc.

I enjoy games. Board Games: I love Chess, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Backgammon, etc. I’m a big fan of the New York Times Crossword which I play daily on my iPhone (great app btw). I’ve enjoyed some computer games but it takes a really good one to get me hooked.

Political

A few of the organizations I support include: Electronic Frontier Foundation · American Civil Liberties Union · Creative Commons · Doctors Without Borders · SETI Institute · American Atheists · Natural Resources Defense Council · National Audubon Society · Appalachian Mountain Club · Renewable Energy Policy Project · Kiva

One of the seminal humanoid robotics projects continues to innovate.

Real-Time Eulerian Water Simulation Using a Restricted Tall Cell Grid, Siggraph 2011

Very impressive for a real-time simulation using off the shelf hardware.
